Description

內容簡介
A sensation: the works of Fred Sandback, embedded for the first time into the buildings by the famous Mexican architect Luis Barragán

Fred Sandback (1943–2003), a prominent Minimalist artist, and the Pritzker Prize winning architect Luis Barragán (1902–1988) shared an interest in the properties of light and color, which they considered central to their practices.
In 2016 sculptures by the artist were temporarily installed in the architect’s Casa Luis Barragán, Casa Antonio Gálvez, Cuadra San Cristóbal, and Casa Gilardi. The resulting interplay was documented in remarkable photographs and is presented for the first time in this publication with essays by Barragán Foundation Director Federica Zanco and curator Daniel Garza Usabiaga, as well as a conversation between architect Roger Duffy, artist Amavong Panya, curator Lilian Tone, and art historian Edward Vazquez.

出版社介紹
"The end-purpose of all art is enjoyment!"
Gotthold Ephraim Lessing

In this very moment we are experiencing something unprecedented: the transformation of the art book into an art object. On the one hand, the continual pressure from  the market to manufacture books less expensively and make them more affordable can’t be denied. On the other, there is increasing demand for durability, solidity, and quality. The art book itself is becoming a valuable collector’s item. Who wants to acquire a catalogue, an artist’s book, or a catalogue raisonné without believing it will still be a jewel in one’s book collection a decade from now?

It’s this kind of book that we at Hatje Cantz believe in and that we enjoy producing for you: books that live on.
